A bosun (or boatswain) is the most senior enlisted member of a ship’s crew. They’re the highly experienced hands who have traveled the world, have done every job, can serve as the captain’s trusted advisor to navigate expertly to the ends of the earth, and can train the captain and crew along the journey. Bosuns carry the service mindset of a practitioner and find honor and pride in their craft.
